Introduction

The present work was carried out within the scope of the Curricular Unit of Comparative Education, integrated in the Degree in Educational Sciences of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Madeira and its main objective is the comparative analysis of Adult Education in three countries belonging to the European Union . We were encouraged to create an e-portfolio that mirrored the reality of Adult Education in Portugal, Spain and the Czech Republic.
The E-portfolio is structured into three main chapters, first introducing the concept of Comparative Education, the biography of Jullien de Paris and his greatest contributions to this topic. In addition to Jullien de Paris, we will name other notable theorists who developed and worked on the comparative method in the area of education. After the conceptualization and presentation of the theoretical aspect, we will continue with the theme of Adult Education, in which we will address this type of education in the three selected countries, which indicators will be analyzed and finally the comparison between the indicators, objectives and targets.
After cross-sectional analysis of some indicators of adult education systems, we consider it important to assess some testimonies from University and Secondary Teachers and Trainers who work in the area of education and experience the challenges on a daily basis.
These perspectives and dimensions of educational practice are important, in order to combine statistical information with felt reality.
To our Professor Doctor Gorete Pereira, our deepest gratitude for her guidance, availability, but above all for her enthusiasm and support along the way.
